Restaurant Review: The Griddle

One of my good friends from Chicago came to visit me in Los Angeles recently.  I hadn’t seen her in what felt like 3 lifetimes, but as soon as she landed it felt as though no time had passed!  Aww, the signs of great friendship always seem to bring a smile to my face!

Since it was her first time in Los Angeles I decided that I absolutely had to take her to The Griddle Cafe – it’s a Must Stop for anyone visiting the Los Angeles area!!

Though The Griddle Cafe is located in a trendy party of Hollywood, showing up in casual clothing is totally fine.  Our party had a comfy yet cute theme going with our attire and no one felt over or under dressed. We waited for approximately 45 minutes to be seated and an additional 25-30 minutes to get our food, but it was worth it.  Our waiter was super-friendly and kinda cute too (that’s always nice).  As compensation for our lengthy wait time our table was given complimentary mimosas … this made my friends very happy.

Though they do have lunch items such as burgers, tacos, sandwiches, and salads on the menu, I rarely see anyone order them.  The Griddle Cafe is really known for it’s uniquely spectacular and eventfully creative breakfast food.  One can expect to pay somewhere between $10-$15 for their food, but it will definitely be yummy.

This particular day I had a taste for eggs and ordered:  Gone Shrimping with real eggs (instead of the egg whites it usually comes with).

This bit of deliciousness is comprised of eggs, shrimp, basil pesto, scallions, and tomatoes, topped with capers and avocado, and served with garlic bread… Oh Emm Gee!! LAWD have-a-mercy!!

My friend also ordered the Banana Nana pancakes … with her Rasberry mimosa.

These buttermilk pancakes were filled with brown sugar baked bananas and were each approximately the size of a frisbee … needless to say that this enormous 3 stack of yumminess was not completed at the table.  It wasn’t until later that I realized you can actually order just one pancake … but hey at least I know for next time!

As you can tell from my plate …

I was most definitely a happy customer and will most certainly be back again … long wait and all!!

Be sure to check this place out!
